Privacy and postcode searches

What happens when you search

We send the postcode to the supported water supplier’s lookup to find its published supply area. We retain searched postcodes and the supplier mapping in our private database so we can check those mappings again. This does not include your name or full street address. The search postcode also appears in the result page’s address.

Vercel hosts the website and Supabase stores the database. Hosting services may process request logs, including network information, to deliver and protect the service. Operational database backups are encrypted and held in our private GitHub project for 14 days.

Contact and control

If you email us, we receive the details you choose to send so we can respond. Do not send a full home address or sensitive information when reporting a data correction. You can contact us to ask about access to, correction or deletion of personal information we hold.

We count postcode lookup outcomes and appliance-unit changes in daily totals, without visitor identifiers or tracking cookies. These counts help us improve coverage and usability. There is no newsletter signup or advertising tracking provided by this version of WaterGrade. Links to suppliers open their own websites, where their privacy policies apply.
